Leaf Flake - Thoughts on Autumn

Leaf flake. Leafflake would make more sense, like snowflake, but the neighboring f's look stupid. I thought about adding an acorn in the middle, and maybe I will at some point. I like autumn/fall much more than winter. Not a ski guy or a snowboard guy. I'm well-padded, but underneath I fear I may be frail. I like ice skating, and I'm getting better at it after not having skated for almost 30 years. Crazy, right? But I have my own skates now (Bauer hockey) that need to be sharpened soon so I'll be ready to go when the weather and water turns frozen. But yeah, fall is the best. Cool air. Great colors. Pumpkins. Pumpkin flavors. Playoff baseball. Football, which isn't nearly as appealing as it used to be. Sweaters and sweatshirts. Hiking boots. The natural migration from iced coffee to hot coffee. Sitting outside in 50ยบ weather sipping a hot coffee? The best. So enjoy the season. Because the next one is approaching, and it's never as beautiful. Or friendly.

Avast, You Scurvy Rats! It's The Next Big Thing Blog Tour!

The Next Big Thing blog tour started in Australia, but it's sturdy sails soon caught a mighty wind (ewww...), sending it on a tour of the seven seas. The object of the tour is to bring awareness to authors & illustrators and their current work. A treasure chest filled with thank ye's goes to the very talented Wendy Martin for tagging me. Podcasts! Because You Can Only Listen To So Much Pearl Jam on Spotify

... or Wilson Phillips. Whatever floats your boat, right? Audio podcasts are a great way to keep yourself entertained and hopefully learn a thing or two or more about the topic(s) they're addressing. I listen to around a dozen every week and mix the genres up depending on my mood or what's going on in my work or leisure life. Design conference coming up? Listen to a Debbie Millman podcast. She's probably interviewed at least one of the featured speakers. Fantasy football draft next week? Feed your brain with some ESPN Fantasy Focus. Need to turn that frown upside down? Have a drink! Or better yet, laugh along with the thoughtfully filthy humor of Bill Burr. There's plenty out there for everyone, every taste and every mood.
